Agreed to do what? To show up and try to beat Gonzo's record of " I don't recall". Pleading the fifth would be admitting he did something wrong. At any rate I am not sure what protection is available in this instance.Pleading the fifth implies there is something to be incriminated for. Same reason Bush didnt' issue blanket pardon it would have meant admitting that they committed crimes. You can't pardon someone for not breaking the law.
