Jon Stewart Laughs At Newspaper Woes: "What's Black And White And Completely Over?"

Well what do you expect? Newspapers are failing for many reasons but the biggest is self inflicted. They are skewing more towards being for people who don't read the paper right now.Which is a losing strategy because the people who currently read the paper do so because they want to know more. Putting in less news is the wrong way to go. When people pick up the paper looking for more information and when don't find it, next time they are more likely to just leave the paper on the stand.I personally canceled my subscription when the world and nation section was 2/3 furniture ads.

Papers are using more short trite little articles that give just a tiny bit more than an overview. That is what people see on Yahoo. If they read it on Yahoo yesterday for free they aren't going to pay a buck to read it again. People read the paper to be more informed not less. Papers should go in the opposite direction, be the newspapers of record, print all the news that is fit to print and all that jazz. There is already a newspaper for people who don't like to read, it's called USA Today.
